Why Orthodontics?
A smile is a universal human expression that bridges the gap between people and warms the soul. Research has shown that a genuine smile can also improve our physical, mental, and social wellbeing. Unfortunately for some, a genuine smile can be a difficult thing as they might be conscious about the appearance of their teeth. I was one of those people until I received orthodontic treatment at age 19. Though I always identified myself as an assured person, after my orthodontist corrected my crowded and misaligned teeth, I found a perceptible change in my attitude and a boost in self-confidence. This is one of the primary reasons I chose orthodontics as my career, as it has potential to change lives, and I am truly honored to have that positive impact in my patient’s life.
Education, constant learning, and professional affiliations:
I received my Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Tufts University school of Dental Medicine. I then completed a rigorous orthodontic residency at University of Detroit Mercy, obtaining my Master of Science (MS) in Orthodontics.
I consider myself a lifelong student, and I try to stay up to date with the latest technological developments and taking continuing educational courses. My goal is to always give my best to patients, attempt to shorten their treatment time, and better serve my patients.I am a Board-Certified Orthodontist, certified by American Board of Orthodontists. In addition, I also serve as editor on the board for Michigan Association of Orthodontists.
I am also affiliated with:
In the past, I served as clinical adjunct professor at University of Detroit Mercy. Teaching helped me to stay up to date with current developments in the ever- evolving field of orthodontics and to collaborate ideas with the young residents. It also gave me an opportunity to act as mentor for a few of them as they embark on their professional journey.
Giving Back to Community:
Currently I live in Canton along with my husband, Raj. We are raising two beautiful kids in the community. I believe in always giving back, and our office tries to support local businesses, organizations, and schools. We do yearly participation for Halloween events with Summit on the park, and we are local supporters of the high school run radio station, 88.1 Park.
Beyond the office:
After hours, you can find me taking a leisurely walk in the neighborhood or driving my kids to multiple after school activities. I am an avid reader and love reading motivational books. In addition, I love to workout every morning and cook some good food.
One Final Note:
Being an orthodontist is truly my favorite professional role as it gives me an opportunity to change people’s smiles and life. At my office, we try to be the best part of our patient’s day and my entire team strives to achieve that. I am thrilled to be considered by you to be your orthodontist and very excited to meet you in person.
